Alnylam Named a Best Workplace for Women by Fortune Magazine
September 27, 2022
To say that the women of Alnylam are playing an essential role in powering what we call the "RNAi Revolution" is not hyperbole, but rather fact reflected in their contributions and accomplishments.
Approximately 52% of Alnylam employees globally identifies as female, as do 3 of 10 members of our Management Team (including our CEO Dr. Yvonne Greenstreet), and half our Board of Directors (5 of 11). Beyond the numbers, our female colleagues are leading critical programs at every level, crafting and shaping every aspect of the employee experience and both represent, are mentors to the next generations of biotechnology professionals within our ranks.
As a company, we've always strived to create an inclusive and welcoming workplace for all, and a vibrant company culture in which women who work in all aspects of our business and are at all stages in their careers can contribute to our mission and thrive, both professionally and personally. That's why recognition by Fortune Magazine and Great Places to Work® US as one of Fortune's Best Workplaces for Women for 2022 is so validating.
We are thrilled with this recognition by Fortune Magazine. From the people to the programs to the benefits we offer, we are so proud of the inclusive culture that we have cultivated that supports women in their career aspirations and life goals. - Kelley Boucher, Alnylam Chief Human Resources Officer
This is our first year on this prestigious Fortune list, which includes global companies from more than a dozen industries including Healthcare, Hospitality, Telecommunications, IT and Financial Services. We ranked #67 out of the 100 largest (>1000 employees) companies, and were the highest ranking company in the Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals category.
To be considered for the list, companies must be Great Place to Work-certified, employ at least 50% women and at least 20% if their non-executive managers must be female. To determine this year's Best Workplaces for Women list and rankings, analytics firm Great Place to Work analyzed the survey responses of over 640,000 women who work for Great Place to Work-Certified™ companies, and compared them to survey responses from their peers. Gender balance within each workplace was also considered, and compared to each company's industry and other benchmarks. Click here to read more about their methodology.
