That we've been part of The Boston Globe's Top Places to Work list since 2015 is a point of particular pride for Alnylam, because since the list is based on employee survey data, we see it as an strong indicator of the strength of our company culture and signal that our employees feel respected, valued and that they believe in our mission. Our seventh year in row (and eighth year overall) also comes with two new distinctions - the ranking of #1 employer in the "Largest Companies" category (>1,000 employees) and the highest ranked life sciences company on this year's list in any category. See the full list here.
At Alnylam, we are changing the way disease is treated through the pursuit of innovative science, and that is only possible with a remarkable team. Despite the ongoing challenges of 2021, our colleagues banded together to find creative ways to continue to innovate, collaborate, and deliver on behalf of the patients that depend on us. Our run of seven years in a row is a testament to that while our pioneering science is our foundation, our people are truly what makes Alnylam amazing.” – John Maraganore, Ph.D., CEO of Alnylam
The Top Places to Work survey is completed by more than 80,000 employees, across 363 different companies in Massachusetts. They complete an anonymous, research-backed survey assessing categories such as their company’s direction, execution, connection, communication, management, work, pay and benefits. The list spotlights companies that support employees both in and out of the office, including caregiving, mental health, and other out-of-office needs. This recognition comes on the heels of Alnylam’s recent inclusion on Science magazine’s Top Employer list for the third consecutive year and being named a Fast Company Best Workplace for Innovators for 2021.
This year, winners share several key traits that have come into focus for employers as a result of the global pandemic, including more flexibility to work remotely, employees' mental health and a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) initiatives. On this last point, we're especially proud that our efforts were further detailed by The Boston Globe in an article focusing on how companies are "putting in the real work" of making diversity, equity and inclusion part of their company culture.
