Alnylam Named a Science Magazine Top Employer for 2nd Year in a Row

October 29, 2020

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals

We're extremely proud and honored to have been named to Science Magazine and Science Career's Top Employers list for 2020. We ranked #3. This is our second year in a row on this prestigious list, and our second year in the top 5.

And what a year this has been. From Science Magazine:

"In a year like no other, 2020's Top Employers Survey not only highlighted the best working environments in pharma and biotech but also addressed some of the unique issues that arose this year, such as how to respond to a pandemic..." "Given that the survey rolled out as quarantines were taking effect, respondents were able to provide a peek into the ambitious initiatives their companies were pursuing in response to COVID-19 - which included everything from developing new work-at-home policies for family-focused employees to rapidly shifting corporate assets to support public health concerns and develop novel therapeutics."

Results were based on 7,650 surveys of people in the industry who rated companies on attributes such as corporate image, leadership and direction, work culture/environment, and academic and intellectual challenge. According to Science, the 2020 global survey results were based on responses from North America (67 percent), Europe (19 percent) and the Asia/Pacific Rim (10 percent).

This recognition by Science as a top employer for the second year in a row is most gratifying because it reflects the continued regard that people from within our biopharma industry have for Alnylam’s scientific leadership, culture of innovation and inclusion and the way we conduct ourselves responsibly as a business. This truly is a special place for science and scientists! - Akshay Vaishnaw, M.D., Ph.D., President, Research & Development, Alnylam

Alnylam's top attributes, from among five scored by Science included "innovative leader in the industry," "treats employees with respect" and "is socially responsible."

"We are thrilled to be named a top employer by Science for the second year in a row, as we continue to build a top-tier, independent biopharmaceutical company founded on RNAi," said John Maraganore, Ph.D., CEO of Alnylam. "This continued recognition is a testament to the efforts of our nearly 1,500 employees around the world who say ‘Challenge Accepted’ to advancing RNAi therapeutics as a new class of innovative medicines to patients in need. It also embodies the bold scientific endeavor and pioneering spirit that spurred our founding over 18 years ago."

We also wish to congratulate our partner and collaborator Regeneron on their inclusion in this year's Science Top Employer list and #1 ranking.
