Alnylam Named #1 Largest Employer in MA for 3rd Year in a Row by The Boston Globe
November 30, 2023
While much about how people work has changed over the past several years - from where they physically sit, to their relationships with offices, to how they communicate as teams and colleagues, we believe that some universal truths remain: that taking a people-first approach and creating a purpose-driven and inclusive culture are both critical to success, regardless of industry.
Since Alnylam's founding in 2002, we've known that attracting top talent would directly impact whether we would be successful in pioneering RNAi therapeutics as an innovative new class of medicines. We also recognize that in biopharma, we play the long game and retaining people who are committed to our mission is just as important as attracting that talent. That's why we've focused so much time and attention on how we support our employees and nurturing a culture that engages and empowers people.
That our employees, through the annual Boston Globe Top Places to Work survey, have made us the #1 ranked company on the "Largest Employers" list for the third year in a row and a Top Place to Work for the 9th consecutive year, reinforces for us that those efforts have paid off.
We strive to set the gold standard for workplace excellence with our science, our people, and our culture. We are proud to be recognized as the #1 Top Place to Work by The Boston Globe for the third year in a row. We are committed to providing an amazing experience for our employees who work passionately to deliver life-changing RNAi medicines for patients in need. It’s simply in our RNA!" – Kelley Boucher, Chief Human Resources Officer
The 2023 Top Places to Work survey was completed by more than 137,000 employees at 347 companies in Massachusetts - a record high. They complete an anonymous, research-backed survey assessing categories such as their company’s direction, execution, connection, communication, management, work, pay and benefits. The list spotlights companies that support employees both in and out of the office, including caregiving, mental health, and other out-of-office needs.
According to The Boston Globe: "The winners are constantly working to improve their workplaces, from investigating how artificial intelligence can assist workers, not replace them, to helping workers get to know each other in an increasingly hybrid world."
This exciting recognition comes on the heels of Alnylam’s recent inclusion on Science magazine’s Science Top Employers list for the fifth consecutive year, being named a Fortune Magazine Best Workplace for Women for the 2nd year in a row and being named a Fast Company's Best Workplace for Innovators for the third year in a row.
