Our News
August 15, 2023
At Alnylam, we're driven by the desire to have a positive impact on the world and that extends beyond the medicines we make. We're proud of our efforts to be a responsible and ethical company, and for being a role-model for fast growing small to mid-sized companies seeking to establish formal corporate responsibility and ESG (environmental, social and governance) programs.
We believe that the positive impact we're having is uncommon for a company of our size and we're thrilled that others, including Humankind, feel that way also. They've named Alnylam to their Humankind 100 list for the 2nd year in a row and we’re pleased to have moved up in the rankings from #97 in 2022 to #76 in 2023. The HumanKind 100 is an annual list published by HumanKind Investments, a financial services company that specializes in socially responsible, or “impact” investing.
Alnylam is among distinguished company on this year’s list joining Fortune 500 companies such as Google parent company Alphabet, Microsoft, Apple, The Walt Disney Company, and Home Depot as well as more than two dozen other biopharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Vertex and Moderna.
We pride ourselves on developing innovative medicines and bringing that same focus to working with our communities and limiting our impact on the environment. We are proud to be recognized as a Humankind 100 company and be one of 100 U.S. public companies that have been selected for bringing value not just for our investors but for humanity at large.” – Arun Skaria, Senior Director, Corporate Responsibility and ESG
The Humankind 100 list, which is compiled by the research team at Humankind, includes the top one hundred U.S. public companies with the highest Humankind Values, which is a proprietary methodology which estimates how a company's direct and indirect actions create positive or negative value for investors, consumers, employees, and society at large.
From Humankind: “The Humankind 100 ranks companies based on their net positive impact. Humankind 100 companies tend to contribute positively to humanity, for example by providing access to food, clean water, healthcare, or free digital services. Meanwhile, companies that hurt people, for example by contributing significantly to climate change or selling toxic products, tend to not make it on to the list.”
