The Makers are the ones charged with manufacturing RNAi therapeutics. Since RNAi therapeutics are a new class of medicines, there was no set of blueprints to follow but rather the Makers needed to devise solutions for manufacturing, quality control and supply chain that were new to both Alnylam and the pharmaceutical industry.
